Funeral Today

This afternoon, following the funeral of the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, the gardens at Chatsworth will be open to all for a celebration of her life.

Everybody is welcome to attend the service this morning. It's a shame I couldn't make it up to Derbyshire today but I know she will have a massive turnout of people paying their respects.

She was a great lady.

  4. Willie, I don't know who gets custody, but I think one thing is certain ..... There will NOT be a chicken in everyone's pot for Sunday dinner.

    1. I suspect her chooks will be moved up to the Chatsworth farm, unless the new tenant at her lovely old vicarage wants to keep them on.

    2. I'm learning new Brit-speak all the time. I presume "chooks" is your term for chickens? :-)

    3. HeHe! Now! Look! Let's get things straight here...!
Chook is Aussie slang for a chicken...

Morgan: I got run over by a bus yesterday.
      Ted: Oh! Yeah! What happened?
Morgan: I was standing in the middle of the road.
Ted: Ha! Ya! bloody chook! :>).

    4. Thanks, Willie. Not fully acquainted with the differences between the Brits and the Aussies ...... Forgive me, please. :-)

  5. She will be a real loss. Great picture of her standing erect and capable but not afraid to get hands on with the chookies! Sad loss for more than just the family.
