Debo, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire

Sometimes you hear of the death of a very famous person and it means a lot to you personally. I met the Dowager Duchess of  Devonshire a handful of times. She was a truly special woman, for many reasons.

I'm so sad to hear she has passed away. I'll miss her not being on the same planet as me.

  3. I missed this news - being a Derbyshire lass I am really sorry to learn that she has died. She was such a great source of inspiration at Chatsworth and if it wasn't for her it wouldn't be the success that it is today.
I think that she remained a fine looking women until the end.

  4. I didn't know anything about her until I saw it on the news last night. It looks like she had a good business brain from a very young age. She said she started keeping chickens when she was about 7 years old and sold the eggs to her mother.

  5. There is a terrific book called The Mitford Girls by Mary S. Lovell. It's a biography of the whole eccentric Mitford family, a terrific read, especially if you don't know much about the family already.
