You Can't Always Spot a Witch

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and Howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood
Then the charm is firm and good.

  1. Mr N decided I was a witch when one evening, early in our marriage, he developed a migraine & I ran out into the garden of our new house in my nightie. I'd noticed feverfew growing there - it worked a treat, stopped his problem - like magic!

  2. My mister is very pleased he married a witch. Just like that lovely film starring Fredric March and Veronica Lake.
