Another Soul Gone Barry Humphries RIP
I saw Barry as his alter ego Dame Edna a couple of times. He was super funny. Here is a clip of him as the awful Les Patterson.

April Colour/Off Colour
I've been a bit OFF colour this week, maybe a virus or something? Just very tired, which isn't like me at all, so I'm taking it easy today. As an antidote I thought I would focus on the colour in my world. Coloured sheer tights are back in fashion, who'd have thought it? I made a note yesterday to purchase some blue tights to sparkle up this transition month's clothing. We're off to Poland for a few days soon and I thought they would be nice for the trip. Then somewhere in the recesses of my mind I pictured some blue tights I bought many years ago and didn't get round to wearing. When I say many years I'm talking 25 years !! Guess what? I found them and being a super scrimpy sort, it has pleased me greatly. I had to laugh, as I bought them in the sale, even way back then.
My other positive colour this week is green. My close friend, a great exponent of Tarot, read my cards and she has told me I need to be in the green to help me shake off my general malaise. Well my chums, no sooner said than done.

Cocktail and Tranquility
Thank goodness I didn't spy this wonderful Negroni recipe BEFORE I went shopping. Otherwise you know what would have happened in the beverage department.
This recipe came via the Saga newsletter I get every now and then. A concoction from the irrepressible and perfectly formed Mr. Stanley Tucci. Yes I do have a bit of a crush on the man, who can blame me?
50mls gin,
25mls sweet vermouth,
25mls campari,
ice,
twist of orange peel.
Pour the booze into a cocktail shaker filled with ice,
shake well and strain into your favourite glass,
garnish with a slice or twist of orange,
sit down, drink and feel the sun in your stomach.
Stanley says, " in this past year I began a relationship with a Negroni and I am happy to say it's going very well".

Of Kings & Kennedys
I love a mixture of traditional and modern furniture and objet d'art. It's the creative and hand made element that they have in common that draws me in.
I saw an advert this week for a most excellent house for sale, very special indeed, which I think balances traditional and modern elements perfectly.
Jackie Kennedy lived there after the assassination of her husband JFK. It is on the market for $26.5 million.
It feels very curated, as I'm sure it is, but the lack of clutter and the luxurious interiors can be scaled down and copied. I'm keeping these images to help me create some fresh spaces in our new home. We plan on a move next year if the right property comes up, we shall see.
Another fine thing I spied in the last couple of days is the glorious invitation to our King's coronation. Don't you just love the fact the Green Man features? My invitation has yet to hit the door mat, but I'm hopeful.

Super Scrimpy Skinflint Misers
Back in the day when the uppercrust took tea, it was usually after dinner, ladies preferred tea and the gentlemen drank coffee. Tea was a very expensive commodity and the leaves were kept locked away in a fancy caddy.
After the leaves were used for the first time they were passed on to the servants for them to make their own tea, then after that they were apparently scattered on rugs to help clean them. I'm not so sure about this last claim as I think used leaves may well have stained the rugs.
Anyway I've brought the subject of tea up because I want to ask all you lovely folk about your use of tea. Bag or loose? Do you use the teabag more than once? I have become even more of a skinflint miser and I now save my early morning green teabag and use it to make a pot of tea in the afternoon by adding another slightly stronger Earl Grey bag and it works a treat.
I'm hoping to encourage all the people who visit my blog to tell me if you use a tea bag more than once. Yes or No?
This last picture is actually me enjoying my double brewed tea.
