Harmony & Tranquility

The mister and I have just returned from a few days in Suffolk. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and to catch up with some dear friends. We had a smashing time, I will post about that in the next couple of days.

Today I want to share with you an incredibly moving and beautiful film. It concerns an elderly lady who has found a peace and happiness through her relationship with her natural surroundings, in particular the sea.

The film was made by a Faroese filmmaker called Heidrick a Heygum. The film is called a portrait of Maria a Heygum.

I so love the sound of her voice and her delicate language. Click on the pink text to link to the film and if you have time, please watch all of the film, you'll be so glad you did.

  2. Glad you had a good time, can't wait to see what you got up to. Couldn't get the film to work, I think the hamster has gone on strike in this old machine of mine x

    1. Hi Julee, did you click on the highlighted text? I tried to imbed the film from you tube but it wouldn't let me so I had to do a text link.

  4. What a sweet lady and oh so brave to take to the water every day - the nearest I get to this is having a bath every morning - oh well, it's something I suppose.

  6. Wonderful, she's certainly looking good on it. I agree with her, the sea does draw you to it, though it's been some time since I've been swimming in it, far too cold for me.

  7. An amazing piece of film making. Sounds like she had acute post partum depression...weight loss, inability to take care of her baby or the house.... The film really is a meditation on natures power to both heal and sustain.
Happy anniversary ( albeit a bit late) you two. x
