Lee Miller, At Last Her Story Is Out There
I have been waiting for this film to hit the cinemas for years. I had the very great pleasure and privilege of working with Lee Miller's son Tony and her granddaughter Ami about nine years ago at Farley Farm House in East Sussex. I knew then that Kate Winslett wanted to make this film about Lee. It has taken so long, but boy the wait has been worth it. It's not really the full story of Lee's life, but rather a snapshot of her war time activity. There is so much more to Lee's story, I urge you to find out more and if you can manage to visit Farley Farm you will be amazed, surprised, moved and excited by what you find there. It really is an extraordinary place, truly unique and still under family control and care. If you have the time, watch this trailer to the end before you see the film.

Emma Bridgewater - One of My Heroines
I'm sure most folk who live in the UK have heard of Emma Bridgewater, who, when only a young woman had the desire and the vision ...

When you've been on the planet some 50 years + it's not often you can say you've seen something so extraordinary, it was breath...
I shall have to try & find this somewhere to watch - I adore Kate Winslet & anything she turns her hand to. Thanks for the recommendation. xx
ReplyDeleteYou will be deeply moved

ReplyDeleteWell, that was QUITE the rabbit hole you sent me down my faraway friend! I did not have the time to watch the entire trailer when I pulled up your post and thought I'd just catch a bit of it...An hour later, I had not only watched it all but was still reading about her amazing life ("lives" is truly more accurate - wow, that woman did and experienced and WAS so much!!) and gleaning through old photos of her. Thank you...once again for broadening my tiny little world. I MUST see this movie!!!!! ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteHa ha. I aim to please. I have two of her images which I bought whilst working at Farley Farm. Special prints from the archive negatives I believe. I'll take a pic and post them. Such a special woman. The energy in her house is amazing. It's buzzing.
DeleteI was so excited to find the dvd on Amazon and ordered it immediately. A short time later, I received a message from the seller saying it would be imported from the UK and would not work in my dvd player unless I had a special kind that is compatible with it. I am DEVASTATED!
DeleteHello my friend. As far as I can see the dvd of the film is not available yet in Britain as the film has only just opened in the cinemas. Be careful people may be selling poor quality illegal copies? There are some great things about Lee and Farley Farm on You Tube which I know you will find interesting while you wait for the official dvd. I have seen some vloggers doing tours of the house. I hope you can access them from where you are. Please don't be devastated.
DeleteThank you for the recommendation, Jean, and I'll definitely put Farley Farm on my list! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh I hope you manage a visit. You'll never visit another place like it.
DeleteI have seen trailers for this film and had no idea who Lee Miller was. Thank you for sharing the trailer and the footage that followed.

ReplyDeleteTaking the opportunity to wish you a good October and a pleasant weekend ahead.
