Miserere Mei Deus

A little bit under the weather today. Have been listening to this magical uplifting music. This is not the longest version, so if you have a spare five minutes do listen.

Little Bear's Heartfelt Makeover

I'm not an expert sewer but I'd like to be. This year I'm hoping to join a local needlework group that meets weekly in Matlock. I was all set to join in 2020 then came the bloomin lockdown.  I've still managed a few creative projects, of course. My latest is the repair of my late good friend's Teddy Bear.

Here she is as a little girl with her bear. And this is how he looked before I spruced him up.

A trace of a face,  no feet or paws and a broken musical box inside, that plays 'How much is that doggy in the window'. She had mentioned a few times about taking Litle Bear to a Teddy hospital to get him sorted out, but it never happened. So I'm afraid he has had to put up with with me, woman handling him.

He looks a much happier bear now and in true 'Repair Shop' style I've also managed to get him musical again too. I think my lovely friend would be very pleased.

Master Bedroom Update

Hello lovely people, hope your week has been okay. I'm just posting today about the work in the master bedroom. Yes, it is finished, apart from the new curtains. I'm splashing the cash and paying someone to make the curtains with pelmets, and also to fit them for me. Although trying to source the right fabric is a bit of a nightmare.

Everything else in the room I have done myself. Plus of course, lucky me I was gifted the wall paper from the lovely folk at Photowall.

I had shown you in a previous post the new lampshades I had chosen for the golden pineapple lamp bases. Sadly when they arrived they were the wrong shape for the bases and didn't provide the oomph I was hoping for. But Pooky came to the rescue. And as luck would have it they were cheaper than the Oka ones, so very pleased all round.

I painted my very old pine chest of drawers again. Before, Scandinavian Blue and now Primer Red, both Annie Sloan chalk paint. The chalk paint goes such a long way, I've enough left over for a couple of more projects.

This colour gives the furniture a real antique feel.

The lovely portrait of Madame Grand blowing bubblegum was an Etsy download purchase, which I had printed up locally and framed myself, with a lush gold frame that I bought for 50p a few years ago, I knew it would come in handy eventually.

Sorry about the reflection on the glass, hopefully you can still see her. She will remain in all her splendour until I can find an equally charming oil painting, at a bargain price, naturally.

Sunday Morning Pancakes - Our Kind of Thing

Our breakfast this morning cost about tuppence halfpenny. The Mr makes a mean pancake, well, several actually. Chocolate and orange spread, (no palm oil), some crumbled walnuts and a goodly amount of

warm raspberries, cooked with a little honey. These were picked and frozen late last Summer.

Since then we have bought a large chest freezer, as we ran out of space for all the fruit. And as we have planted more fruit trees we're hoping for an abundance of fruit to store and eat over the colder months, going forward.

I've been very busy decorating the master bedroom and will be back soon with a bit of an update for you.

Emma Bridgewater - One of My Heroines

I'm sure most folk who live in the UK have heard of Emma Bridgewater, who, when only a young woman had the desire and the vision ...
