I'm Stepping Back in Time
Tomorrow the Mr and I are stepping back in time to the 1920s with a visit to Mr Straw's house. I've been meaning to visit for years but have never managed to get there. It is owned by the NT and is not open very often, add the fact they only let 4 people in at a time you can understand why. We had planned to go to the Victorian Radicals exhibition in Birmingham, but I couldn't face the journey and the trials of spaghetti junction, so Nottingham it is.

I'm sure most folk who live in the UK have heard of Emma Bridgewater, who, when only a young woman had the desire and the vision ...

When you've been on the planet some 50 years + it's not often you can say you've seen something so extraordinary, it was breath...
Can you see me jumping up and down and yelling "I wanna go too!"?? I was completely unfamiliar with the house (of course) but, being intrigued by your little snippet video, explored more about it online. EEEK! That is SOOO up my alley I can't believe it. What a glorious adventure! I hope you are able to take lots of photos! Living Vicariously in Nod, Robin.
ReplyDeleteI wish you could have come with me too. My next post will be all about what we found.
DeleteMr. Straw's House sounds like my kind of place!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to see the Victorian Radicals exhibition when we're in Shropshire in June, although I'm not keen on spaghetti junctions myself. Just trying to figure out the best way to get there ... xxx
I hope you make it to the exhibition, trains, trams and buses all go there.
DeleteIt's a very interesting house. For many years I worked at the hospital just up the road from there. A few of us did the tour one lunchtime, we loved it! Enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI too explored more about this online!
ReplyDeleteI think this will be fascinating visit and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
All the best Jan
It was a very intimate house. I'll post all about it in a few days.
DeleteThis is somewhere I'd love to visit. I enjoy seeing how ordinary people live more than the gentry, perhaps that's why I enjoy reading blogs, I'm just nosey at heart, haha. I hope you enjoyed your visit.
