Went for a wee walk in the Mizzle today with The Mister. We visited the gardens of the Elizabethan house that is 'more glass than wall', Hardwick Hall. Extremely foggy, the house had a strange and eerie feel. Loved it. Only sorry we couldn't go in.
Home for a pot of tea and a lush plate of Inverawe smoked salmon with scrambled egg. I ventured to buy a packet of the 'by Royal appointment' salmon after a work colleague recommended it. I only bought trimmings mind, well, it was the best smoked salmon we've ever tasted. I shall be purchasing some more for my new freezer.
Keep well everyone.
I've only visited Hardwick Hall once, a few years ago when my husband was working in Derby, thoroughly enjoyed it. Bess was quite a woman.
ReplyDeleteDid this Mansion appear in a Harry Potter film? Not the best reference for a wonderful historical landmark,is it? We actually enjoy a walk in the rain (as long as it isn't torrential) everything looks and smells washed clean. Smoked salmon and scrambled egg sounds delicious. keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteYes, it was Malfoy Manor, exterior shots anyway. Plus the entrance hall. It is a superb building, Testament to the power of Bess of Hardwick. Or the Countess of Shrewsbury as she became.
DeleteHow I love the peeks into your little part of the world! I so look forward to your posts LOL (guess "living vicariously" has become more of a lifeline than ever before these days). Ahhhh....I love, love, love a good smoked salmon. Haven't had any in a good long while. But with scrambled eggs LOL? ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteI'm super pleased you're enjoying my posts. I really like to follow yours too. I accidently deleted your last comment but managed to cut and paste it from my email notification. My husband and I visited New England about 12 years ago and we went to Salem amongst other lovely places. You must save your pennies and visit Blighty you would simply love it.

All the best Jan
