Tis The Season

A few things that have made my heart skip a Christmas beat. My hand made organic wreath created at a local Hospice fundraiser, not as perfect as others that were made but I'm happy enough to hang it on my door. After all, it is what it symbolises that is important. Please note my recycled Chatsworth ribbon from last year, makes it look a bit posher :). And my beautiful new Emma Bridgewater mug, the first day of Christmas. I have a number of her mugs, I love them and like the fact every purchase from her supports an old  British industry and local folk.

What are you especially enjoying in the run up to the big day?

  1. Your wreath is beautiful, there is a real elegant simplicity to it. :-)

I'm currently enjoying the slow build up to the big day, and the leeway I am giving myself in buying a few treats here and there.

    1. Thanks Sue. I didn't want it to be over the top. I too am slowly acquiring a few treats here and there. I ordered a small box of fondant fancies from Betty's yesterday, they are a real treat.

  2. That wreath looks absolutely perfect in its imperfection, and I'm loving the Naples mural! xxx

  3. I'm an Emma Bridgewater mug collector too. Before we moved we lived about 20 miles from her factory which had a very nice tea room. I used to buy the seconds and the other day I found 2 in a charity shop at 50p each! I didn't query the price. Now we live about 12 miles from Chatsworth and are members. Xx

  4. That's a lovely EB mug, I have a few too but for some reason no Christmas ones. Your wreath looks perfect, I've yet to make mine, if there is time tomorrow i'll do it. I can't say I ever enjoy the run up to Christmas, it all seems like madness.

    1. I think the joy is finding your own pace and cutting out all the nonsense.

  5. I love your wreath!! It caught my eye immediately upon opening up your blog. Ahhh...what am I especially enjoying?? Playing the old traditional Christmas songs while ever so slowly pulling out my decorations. I used to scurry about to put things up and "get it done" but this year, instead, I am embracing a slow roll-out...savoring each collection or piece and treasuring my memories of it...and speculating about those of whoever had previously owned it. It squanders a great deal of time but that's ok. I've decided it more rewarding this way.
