The Harvest Has Begun
I'm determined this year to make the most of what Mother Nature has to offer. I do have a knowledge of herbs and flowers for health and for culinary purposes, but truth be told I have been a bit lazy in the past. Now I have decided to create my own Apothecary and to grow as many herbs and foods as I can. Organic and fresh is the way forward. I recently attended a couple of 'herbal' evening events with a local lass who taught me a few new things and sparked my interest to boot.
These two books will be invaluable.

Gaz Oakley is brilliant at using what he grows isn't he. I watched him on YouTube setting up his Welsh smallholding with great interest, it brought back so many happy memories of us setting up ours. I am very jealous of his Polycrub, and I've told Alan that if we move to somewhere with a garden big enough I want one, he agreed as long as he could have a good 'man shed'. :-)
ReplyDeleteOoooh sounds like you two are in danger of upscaling?
DeleteIt is wonderful to harvest all we can get our hands on Jean. Those books look fabulous. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie
DeleteGreat for you! Yes...most definitely, "organic and fresh is the way forward." I've been a bit lax in this regard myself - with it just being myself, it no longer pays to grow my own vegetables, put them up, etc. But I still keep on with my herbs and such. Looks (and sounds) like you're off to an awesome start!
ReplyDeleteThanks m'dear, it is a lot of work but worthwhile methinks. I'm due a big weeding session tomorrow so may not feel the blessing then.
DeleteGrowing your own is definitely the way forward, and I'm wishing you every success! xxx
ReplyDeleteThose two books look great.
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a homegrown harvest.
All the best Jan
