Brouges Are Back

I'm not in the habit of accumulating lots of shoes and handbags. I know it's a buzz for some, but not me. I'd say one pair of new Summer sandals and one pair of shoes or boots for Winter suits me fine.

Last year I gave in to the whole Uggs thing and bought a pair for my trip to Reykjavik, they were blinkin marvellous. This Winter I'm lusting after a pair of Brouges, to match up with some tweedy trousers, or tweedy jacket or even tweedy jumper, definitely tweedy.

I love that slightly androgynous look perfected by Marlene or indeed Annie Hall.

Over the years I've become a big fan of Clarks shoes. Not sure when it started or how it happened, but there it is.

The only fly in the oinkment is I don't like to pay loads of money for shoes, so I always try and wait for a special offer to come through. I've signed up to the Clarks newsletter so I don't miss out. The year before last I bought a pair of very expensive boots from Clarks and missed out on their Winter discount. Still makes me shudder now, paying full price for something.

Anyhow, if like me you are planning a purchase they have a 20% discount on all women's and men's shoes when you spend over £70.00. The code is BOCT14. Pop over to their site for more info. Looks like they still have some sale stock as well.

  2. Ooh, you're on my wavelength with this one Jean. I spent Sat night in a pair of heels and regretted it, so I'm after some smart but comfy shoes. I shall pop over to Clarks website now, armed with the discount code! x

  5. I went into Joules the other week as I had to kill an hour waiting for DS to finish a test. There were some lovely shoes and plenty of tweedie things, luckily I got out before my bank card jumped into the machine ;)

  6. Brogues and oxfords for women are really popular this year...must be, for me to have noticed and bought some, and I'm not a fashion follower!

  7. I love my Clarks boots, I buy them every year in the end of season sale ready for the next winter. Never worn brogues, will have to look into that :)

  9. I love brogues too, my daughter wears them with everything!

I hate paying full price for shoes, especially Clarks, as they're so expensive, but they do last a lot longer than cheaper shoes, so are worth it in the long run.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend x

  10. I love Clarks' shoes as well Jean and they really have improved over the last few years. I don't normally buy clothes/shoes online but I have noticed that there are always good discounts, sometimes up to 30% with some stores and very often free postage as well.

  11. I'm a bit cheeky because I try them on in my local store, then normally order them online if there is an added discount.

  12. The word 'Clarks' is used in France as meaning men's suede desert boots, which just happen to be the shoes I've worn exclusively (other than summer pumps) since the 1960's.

    1. I know exactly the ones you mean. It's good to get a look and stick with it, that's what all the top fashion bods do. I'm still searching for mine, but I favour a Scandinavian look and i'm working on it.

  13. Yep - if you keep your eye on Clarks they come up with some good (and comfortable) styles. I buy mine from their "outlet" shop in York and loved my black brogues last winter. Scandinavian? I love it too - I collect the antiques and wear Gudrun Sjoden!
