Last year I gave in to the whole Uggs thing and bought a pair for my trip to Reykjavik, they were blinkin marvellous. This Winter I'm lusting after a pair of Brouges, to match up with some tweedy trousers, or tweedy jacket or even tweedy jumper, definitely tweedy.

Over the years I've become a big fan of Clarks shoes. Not sure when it started or how it happened, but there it is.
The only fly in the oinkment is I don't like to pay loads of money for shoes, so I always try and wait for a special offer to come through. I've signed up to the Clarks newsletter so I don't miss out. The year before last I bought a pair of very expensive boots from Clarks and missed out on their Winter discount. Still makes me shudder now, paying full price for something.

when they need replacing, l get, from Premier Man,
£25 a pair, buy one pair, get another free! AND..
There leather uppers and soles! Job done!

I went into Joules the other week as I had to kill an hour waiting for DS to finish a test. There were some lovely shoes and plenty of tweedie things, luckily I got out before my bank card jumped into the machine ;)

Brogues and oxfords for women are really popular this year...must be, for me to have noticed and bought some, and I'm not a fashion follower!

ReplyDeleteI hate paying full price for shoes, especially Clarks, as they're so expensive, but they do last a lot longer than cheaper shoes, so are worth it in the long run.

I love Clarks' shoes as well Jean and they really have improved over the last few years. I don't normally buy clothes/shoes online but I have noticed that there are always good discounts, sometimes up to 30% with some stores and very often free postage as well.

The word 'Clarks' is used in France as meaning men's suede desert boots, which just happen to be the shoes I've worn exclusively (other than summer pumps) since the 1960's.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly the ones you mean. It's good to get a look and stick with it, that's what all the top fashion bods do. I'm still searching for mine, but I favour a Scandinavian look and i'm working on it.

Yep - if you keep your eye on Clarks they come up with some good (and comfortable) styles. I buy mine from their "outlet" shop in York and loved my black brogues last winter. Scandinavian? I love it too - I collect the antiques and wear Gudrun Sjoden!
